Hospice

When Is It Time?

A hospice patient typically has a medical condition with a life expectancy of less than six months. The patient and/or family, in conjunction with the patient’s physician, agree that the goal is not treatment or cure, but pain management and support for dignified final days.

Once the decision is made, patient and family can focus on their time together with one less worry. Of course it remains a difficult time, but deciding on a plan provides a measure of peace. Your hospice team will help patient and family prepare for what’s to come, offering education and support to make the unknown more knowable.

Call Absolute Hospice when you notice these factors:

  • Prognosis of six months or less
  • Weight loss
  • Increased or recent falls
  • Recurrent infections
  • Recurrent hospitalizations
  • Frequent ER visits
  • Change in mental status
  • Increased weakness and fatigue
