Home Health

Medicare Coverage and Eligibility

Most people want to know how to pay for home health care services. Medicare covers 100 percent of home health care when all four of the following requirements are met:

  1. The patient is homebound. Medicare considers a patient homebound if his or her physician certifies that the patient has difficulty leaving the household without assistance of a walking device (cane, wheelchair, crutches or help from another person etc.).
  2. The patient needs skilled nursing care or skilled therapy services (which includes physical, speech or occupational therapy).
  3. A physician determines and certifies that skilled nursing services should be part of a patient’s plan of care. The physician then regularly reviews the plan and meets with our team of medical professionals.
  4. The home health agency selected is a certified Medicare provider. Absolute Home Health is a certified Medicare provider.

Services are also available through Medicare Advantage, Medicaid and commercial insurance.
