Absolute Home Health & Hospice Celebrates National Hospice & Palliative Care Month
(North Canton, OH) Nov. 7, 2017 – November is National Hospice and Palliative Care Month. Throughout the month, Absolute Home Health & Hospice, along with hospice care organizations all over the nation, are championing awareness efforts about the highest-quality of care for people who face life-limiting illnesses.
Every year, nearly 1.5 million people living with a life-limiting illness receive care from hospice and palliative care providers in this country. “Hospice is so vital to our communities,” said Pat Galioto, director of professional services. “It’s not only vital to the patients receiving the care, it’s increasingly essential to their families and friends.”
This year’s theme, set by the National Hospice & Palliative Care Organization is, “It’s about how you live!”
Hospice isn't a place, it's a philosophy. It's about caring, not curing. The hospice movement helps those with life-limiting illnesses feel comfortable and valued. It serves and supports the whole person, offering services that include pain management, symptom control, psychosocial, emotional, spiritual care to patients and their families when a cure isn’t possible. Through this specialized care, we see many patients and their families experience more meaningful moments together. Hospice helps them focus on living despite a terminal diagnosis.
To further commemorate Hospice Month, Absolute Home Health & Hospice is hosting a reception in appreciation of the movement, hospice workers, customers and partners on Thursday, Nov. 9 from 4:30 – 7 p.m. at 339 East Maple St. NW, North Canton, OH 44720.
More information about hospice, palliative care, and advance care planning is available from Pat Galioto, director of professional services at 330.498.8075.
