What is Hospice?
"Hospice" can be a frightening word to hear, but it should not be feared.
It is simply a philosophy of care – a holistic approach that allows an ill person to experience his or her final days with dignity, comfort and peace. Hospice care addresses the physical, spiritual, and emotional needs of patients and their families.
Hospice is about living. It does not hasten death. It provides increased quality of life by managing symptoms when aggressive and invasive treatments are no longer effective or wanted. The majority of families who engage hospice care wish they had started services earlier.
Hospice is not a place. Hospice services are provided wherever the patient calls home – private residences, assisted living or nursing facilities. We are available to you 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
